DR. JOEL MOZER

Science & Technology Advisor

Dr. Joel Mozer is a distinguished physicist and strategist with over 30 years of experience in space science, technology innovation, and national defense. He recently retired as the Chief Science Officer of the United States Space Force, where he led the service’s $300 million annual investment in basic and applied research and advanced development. In this role, he also served as the principal scientific advisor to the Chief of Space Operations, guiding long-term strategies to anticipate emerging technologies, threats, and opportunities.

Before the establishment of the Space Force, Dr. Mozer served as a space scientist at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). He directed pioneering research in space system autonomy. He was the Mission Director for the Automated Navigation and Guidance Experiment for Local Space (ANGELS) satellite—the Air Force’s first mission to explore autonomous rendezvous and proximity operations in geosynchronous orbit.

Currently, Dr. Mozer focuses on independent research in Artificial Intelligence, particularly its application to operational course of action development and strategic decision-making. His expertise bridges the gap between cutting-edge science and real-world implementation, making him a vital contributor to the future of secure quantum technologies.

Dr. Mozer holds a Ph.D. in physics and continues to advise organizations at the intersection of national security, AI, and space innovation.
